Hemptons is a
manufacturer and distributor of organic nutritional supplements, foods and
body care.
We are based in Johannesburg, South Africa
and have been operational since 2004.
Our product
ranges all contain Hemp as a base i.e. the nutritional oils are cold pressed
from pure, organically grown seed (certificates available) as are the oils
and butters used in the body care products and the foods.
We do not have a Retail (physical)
outlet, but sell our
products directly to the public via our
on-line
store and to select Retail outlets (shops). We are moving away
from the traditional, "distribution / retail" model as we have found
that each link in the supply chain is adding unreasonably high margins,
which makes the products exorbitantly expensive for the end-user.
Our Body Products are formulated as naturally,
bio-degradable and eco-friendly as possible -
by that we mean that, where possible, we use only natural or Ecocert Certified
raw materials and all of these materials are selected only because they are
either bio-degradable, easily replenishable (organically grown) and where
possible, sourced in South Africa which means they don't have to be
transported over vast distances, hence the carbon footprint is kept as low
as possible to.
There
are ingredients that you will never find in any
Hemptons' body care products. Things like petroleum
based raw materials -
which is not an easily renewable resource and can be
toxic. Sulphates, which are harsh, aggressive
ingredients used in most cleansing products like
Shampoo's, Shower Gels, Bath Foams, Bubble Baths,
Toothpastes etc. .. Rather than loading our products up with
harsh chemicals or unnecessary fillers, we offer you
only the good stuff!
Yes, they may be a bit more
expensive than the mass-produced products found in
most supermarkets, but when you use our products you
know you are using a genuinely safe product for both
you and the environment - and not
just something that uses 'natural' on the label as a
marketing ploy to make you think it is!
A few of
our products contain ingredients derived from
animals, such as beeswax .. and for that we thank
them - our products are however, never tested on animals
(only willing guinea pigs .. such as friends and family)!
Although we
manufacture our products locally (in South Africa), we are not a
supplier of raw materials other than Hemp Seed Oil.

Seed for personal or agricultural use
-as Hemp is still a regulated crop
in South Africa and cannot
be imported into or grown in South Africa.

Clothing, papers, fabrics, yarns, rope etc. (and we don't
know who else does as it is not our business focus).
